The Performance: Extraordinary
Extraordinary is a compelling contemporary dance work by choreographer and artist Chung Yu-tung and Li Tuokun. Following two years of intensive movement exploration and touring across 11 international dance festivals in Asia and Europe, this work arrives at the WestK Freespace, The Box in Hong Kong.
Artistic Concept
What happens when the line between human and object blurs? A chair, a feather duster, a coat—these mundane items transform into part of the physical landscape. Extraordinary (非日常) does not see the dancers as controllers, but as entities sharing the same essence with the objects they interact with. Through precise choreography, the work deconstructs everyday reality and reconstructs space, inviting the audience to reflect on modern existence.
About the Choreographers
Chung Yu-tung is an independent artist and graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Known for her focus on performance as a behavioral study of femininity, her works have been featured globally, including at the Yokohama Dance Collection and in various international dance festivals. Her partner in this production, Li Tuokun, brings a wealth of performance experience to this collaborative piece.
