Highlights
As a cornerstone of Hong Kong's contemporary dance scene, the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) proudly presents the 'Outstanding' series for the 2026-27 season. This program brings together legendary choreographer Jiří Kylián's classic masterpiece with a new work by local choreographic talent Sang Jijia, creating a dialogue that transcends borders.
Program
The performance features two distinct yet emotionally resonant works. Jiří Kylián, a legendary figure in modern dance, is celebrated for his profound, abstract, and tension-filled physical vocabulary. His classic work, 'No Sleep', captures the solitude and shifting consciousness of an insomniac in the dead of night, offering a delicate exploration of the inner human state. In contrast, Sang Jijia, known for his acute understanding of movement and spatial dynamics, presents a new creation that continues his tradition of interweaving shadows, memory, and spatial interaction to weave a poetic narrative about the flow of emotions and interpersonal connections. Together, these works offer an artistic feast that balances consciousness and subconsciousness.
Artists
- Jiří Kylián: An internationally acclaimed dance master, renowned for his long tenure as Artistic Director of the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT).
- Sang Jijia: An internationally recognized choreographer and Resident Choreographer for CCDC, celebrated for the emotional depth and experimental nature of his works.
