Taking place at the Atrium of Domain, a popular hub in Yau Tong, this event provides a perfect opportunity for residents to experience the timeless charm of Cantonese opera amidst their daily routines.
Program
As a world-class intangible cultural heritage, Cantonese opera demands rigorous mastery of its four fundamental skills: singing, speech, acting, and martial arts. This event serves as an engaging introduction, presenting a curated selection of Cantonese opera excerpts that showcase both grace and athleticism:
- 'Guessing Thoughts' from Di Qing's Night Visit to the Three Passes: Performed by Hui Ka-kei and Li Ching-yan.
- Mu Guiying's Proposal: Performed by Cheung Siu-lun and Chow Lok-tung.
- Tumbling Demonstration: An exciting showcase by So Yuk-tsz, highlighting the incredible foundational skills of opera performers.
Guided by veteran host Cheung Po-wah, the event goes beyond mere observation; it includes interactive elements that allow citizens to gain deeper insights into the beauty and history of this ancient art form. Whether you are a dedicated enthusiast or a curious newcomer, you are warmly invited to join us at Domain for this free cultural celebration.
