The Box 7.0: A New Frontier in Street Dance Theatre
The Hong Kong Street Dance Theatre Development Project (The Box) returns for its seventh edition, continuing its mission to bridge the gap between street dance culture and contemporary theatre. The Box 7.0 serves as a vital platform for choreographers to experiment, pushing the boundaries of movement, rhythm, and storytelling. This year’s programme features five brand-new works, each offering a unique perspective on the body and space.
Artistic Vision & Programme
Curated by the Hong Kong Street Dance Development Alliance, The Box 7.0 invites both seasoned and emerging creators to transform the raw energy of street dance into complex, expressive stage art. The project challenges artists to deconstruct their technical roots and reassemble them into new narratives suitable for the theatre environment.
Key artistic contributors for this edition include:
- Choreographers: Luo Xiaoxin, Su Yuna, and Huang Xinglun.
- Special Commissions: Ian Abbott (UK), Su Lejian, and Sun Nan.
- Production: Zhou Yi (Production Manager) and Zhao Jiahao (Lighting Design).
Venue and Accessibility
Performances will take place at the Cultural Activities Hall of the Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre. The venue provides an intimate setting conducive to the detailed, physical nature of the pieces. Please note that the seating is free seating (not reserved).
