Highlights
"Pocket City" is an original Cantonese musical specially crafted for youth audiences. Through the lens of a virtual reality (VR) game, the play cleverly bridges modern digital life with the inner world of teenagers, deeply exploring the challenges of emotion management, media literacy, and parent-child communication faced by Gen Z and Alpha. It is not just an audiovisual treat, but a journey of love, forgiveness, and self-discovery.
Program Introduction
Set in the near future, the global VR sensation "Pocket City" has become a stage for young people to connect with the world. For 17-year-old protagonist Har Gow, however, the game is a key to the past—the voice behind the game's announcement belongs to his long-lost father, Dr. Law. Seeking the truth, Har Gow enters the game with unresolved anger and pain. Throughout his adventure, he must let go of his arrogance, learn the value of communication and trust, and piece together fragmented memories to uncover his father's true intentions. Using the game as a metaphor, the musical invites the audience to reflect on the obstacles faced during the journey of growing up.
