Introduction
"Untitled" is a unique art installation created by Japanese artist Izumi Kato for CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile). Born and raised in Shimane Prefecture, Japan, Kato’s upbringing in nature profoundly influences his artistic philosophy, positing that humanity is an integral part of the natural world.
Highlights
Originating from the 2020 CHAT Spring Program, this project represents a collaborative effort between the artist and local Hong Kong farmers. The installation features five sculptures where painted stone heads are complemented by living organic plants. While the stone remains immutable, the organic elements grow and transform over time, embodying the flux of life and the symbiotic relationship between art and nature. As a testament to this unique collaboration, the plants are refreshed periodically, ensuring that the installation evolves and offers fresh perspectives to visitors.
