Program Introduction
This exhibition is held at F Hall of the former Victoria Prison compound, a site that historically functioned as a detention and repatriation center for undocumented immigrants under the Immigration Department. Titled "Where is Home?", the exhibition utilizes the prison space as a metaphor for the "transit station" of life's journey, exploring profound themes of migration, displacement, and their ongoing contemporary relevance. It invites visitors to reflect on the meaning of home through a historical lens.
Highlights
The exhibition is a highly collaborative effort, featuring insights and inspiration from partner organizations such as Christian Action, refugee and migrant communities, as well as former Marine Police and Correctional Services officers. Artist Erik Oude has contributed a site-specific mural inspired by these diverse historical narratives, which reflects Tai Kwun's ongoing commitment to promoting social inclusion and public cultural participation. This unique blend of history, storytelling, and artistic expression offers a compelling experience for all visitors.
