Hong Kong Children's Musical Theatre presents 'Tong Sum Stage 2026' featuring the musical 'Can We Say - Tong Sum Version.' Adapted from the classic poetry picture book by renowned Hong Kong author Xi Xi, this production breathes new life into words through the magic of musical theatre.
What happens when we play with quantifiers and rethink the way we use language? The story follows 'En-en,' a curious primary school student. During a language exercise, he begins to question established norms, wondering, 'Why is saying "a plane of birds" incorrect?' Who sets these rules, and why are they so rigid?
During this whimsical journey, En-en meets a Chinese teacher who refers to herself as 'a tail' of an old lady, accompanied by 'a bunch' of black cats and 'a bit' of an ant. Guided by his teacher, a typical tea restaurant transforms into an adventure park, and language itself comes alive. This production is a reflection on imagination and self-discovery. We invite families to step into En-en's universe and learn how shifting one's perspective can open up a world of endless possibilities.
