Overview
The 4th "Feng Lei Dance Platform" will be held from July 3 to July 19, 2026, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Studio Theatre. Continuing the spirit of "Step by Step," this year's theme is "Taking Root and Blossoming." The festival focuses on Chinese modern dance companies established between 2010 and 2025, showcasing the vibrant artistic evolution within the contemporary dance scene over the past fifteen years.
Highlights
This edition serves as a significant retrospective and showcase of modern Chinese dance. From July 17 to 19, the platform will present six distinct modern dance works, with two performances each day. Preceding this, a special program featuring the Hong Kong Dance Company and guest choreographers Shi Xuan and Zhou Niannian ("Xuan Nian Space") will present the piece "Miss Me, Come See My Painting!" from July 3 to 5.
Featured Works
- "Map": Choreographed by Mao Wei and Wen Chuan, performed by the Mo Wei Dance Theatre (Hong Kong). This piece explores the alienation of "identity" in contemporary society, stripping away the heavy armor of social definitions to guide the audience back to the source of all existence.
- "Suspended": Choreographed by Zhu Jiguang, performed by the Shandong Modern Dance Company (Jinan). Utilizing bodily experience to deconstruct "homesickness," the piece questions the suspension of identity amidst rapid urbanization, creating a poetic exploration of physical memory and fluid identity.
