Overview

"The Reincarnation of Red Plum Blossom" is a timeless classic in the world of Cantonese Opera, renowned for its compelling storyline and significant artistic value. The opera recounts the tale of the scholar Pei Yu, who encounters Li Huiniang, a concubine of the powerful minister Jia Sidao, at West Lake. When Huiniang expresses her admiration for Pei Yu's talent, the jealous and tyrannical Jia Sidao cruelly murders her, though her spirit persists. The plot evolves through dramatic events, including encounters with Lu Zhaorong, who bears a striking resemblance to Huiniang, leading to a complex romance filled with tension, supernatural elements, and unwavering dedication to true love. This production is a must-see for opera enthusiasts, capturing the essence of resilience against tyranny.

Cast & Production

Organized by the Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Art Troupe, the production is guided by veteran experts in the field. Long Guantian serves as Artistic Director, with Nan Feng as Artistic Instructor and Wang Shengquan as Music Director. The performance is divided into "New Talent" and "Veteran" sessions.
