Highlights
As a featured performance of the "Chinese Culture Festival 2026," City of Lights, Spirits of the Past explores the preservation and evolution of traditional heritage within a modern urban context through a fusion of light, shadow, and dance. The narrative centers on a neon light designer, Alo, who navigates the boundaries between Hong Kong's vibrant urban reality and its historical memories.
Program
This performance is a quest for the true "meaning of light." Navigating a labyrinth of old signs and neon glows, the production seeks to reclaim forgotten urban imprints and fulfill a legacy. The show features a multidisciplinary blend, including traditional marionette puppetry, the dramatic intensity of Sichuan opera face-changing, high-energy contemporary street dance, the thunderous power of Miao drumming, and intricate paper-cutting art. It seamlessly bridges ancient cultural elements with modern technology and aesthetic sensibilities. Through their fluid movements, young dancers interpret the enduring vitality and transformative power of Chinese culture as it transitions into the contemporary era.
