Program Overview
"Ci Lang Zhou" is a classic Cantonese opera set during the turbulent final years of the Southern Song Dynasty. The story follows Zhang Da, a former commander in Chaozhou, who comes out of retirement with his wife, Chen Biniang, to rally their people in resistance against the Yuan army. The production poignantly portrays their deep patriotic devotion and the tragic struggle against the invaders in Yazhou, culminating in Chen Biniang's ultimate sacrifice, illustrating an unwavering spirit of loyalty and courage.
