Alice in Wonderland - Through the Looking-Glass: A New Chapter [International Arts Carnival 2026]

This two-act opera, "Alice in Wonderland," is a highlight of the International Arts Carnival 2026, commissioned by Yip's Children's Choir and the Zurich Opera House. It masterfully blends operatic vocal techniques with the pure voices of children, reimagining this classic fairy tale. Composed by Valterrari, this production has been highly acclaimed since its premiere at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2021 and returns this summer in a creative new version.

Program

The story follows Alice down the rabbit hole, where she encounters whimsical creatures and embarks on a final, tense confrontation with the Queen of Hearts. Directed by Huang Xiaochu, with conductors Yip Wing-sie and Leung Shu-ming, the production features professional vocalists alongside Yip's Children's Choir. The performance is in English with Chinese and English surtitles, making it perfect for family audiences.
