The 'Tea House Theatre Experience' is a signature programme at the Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Curated and directed by renowned Cantonese opera artist Law Kar-ying and performed by the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, this event invites the audience to enjoy a unique blend of traditional performance arts. Guests are treated to exquisite Cantonese opera excerpts, arias, and instrumental music while enjoying Chinese tea and refreshments in an environment designed like a traditional teahouse.
Programme
Spanning approximately 90 minutes, the performance features a variety of Cantonese opera highlights, vocal arias, and music. The performance includes accessible narration, making it an excellent entry point for newcomers to explore the art form. This season includes a refreshed repertoire alongside Law Kar-ying's signature classics, featuring works such as 'The Legend of the Purple Hairpin', 'The White Snake' (The Medicine Stealing), and 'Mu Guiying Breaks the Hongzhou City' (The Reconciliation), ensuring a fresh and engaging experience every time.
