Organized by HKAPA EXCEL, this Fundamentals of Stage Lighting Design course is designed for individuals eager to explore the world of stage lighting. Conducted in a professional lighting design laboratory at the HKAPA, the course is taught by a seasoned stage lighting designer. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of the history and theories of stage lighting while getting hands-on experience with professional stage lighting equipment in a real-world setting.

Program Details

This comprehensive course covers essential aspects of stage lighting design, including:

• History and development of stage lighting
• Lighting design theories and aesthetics
• Practical operation of professional lighting equipment
• Detailed lecture notes will be provided.

An integrated practical session is planned, provided the enrollment numbers for the respective classes are met. In this session, students from the Stage Lighting Design, Stage Management, and Sound Technology and Control courses will work together, simulating a real theatre environment and collaborative process.

The course will be held at the HKAPA Bethanie Campus in Pok Fu Lam. Participants are advised to plan their commute accordingly to ensure timely arrival.
