Program Introduction

As part of the "Exploring Chinese Culture" series at the Chinese Culture Festival 2026, we are proud to present a thematic talk titled "The Common Practice of Tea Brewing in the Tang Dynasty." This session features Professor Liao Zifang, a veteran tea expert and President of the China International Tea Culture Association. Professor Liao will guide participants on a journey back to the Tang Dynasty, unraveling the complexities of the classic "Tea Brewing Method" documented by Lu Yu in his seminal work, The Classic of Tea. From water selection and heating to the roasting, grinding, sifting, and brewing processes, Professor Liao will demonstrate and explain these ancient techniques, providing insights into the unique charm of Tang Dynasty tea culture.

About the Speaker

Professor Liao Zifang is a highly respected tea expert and the current President of the China International Tea Culture Association. With extensive knowledge and passion for traditional Chinese tea culture, Professor Liao has dedicated years to the research and promotion of ancient tea practices. Her engaging presentations offer profound insights into the art of tea, bridging the gap between historical tradition and modern appreciation.
