These works are renowned for their poetic lyrics, exquisite costumes, and high artistic value, standing as precious treasures in the history of Chinese cinema.
Programme
This retrospective selection brings classic Chinese opera films back to the big screen. A highlight of the programme is "The Bride Who Seizes the Husband" (1961), co-directed by Hu Xiaofeng and Lin Huan (the famed novelist Jin Yong), starring the legendary Xia Meng, with vocals performed by renowned Yue opera artists.
