Highlights
As a centerpiece of the 'Asia+ Festival 2026', the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra collaborates with rising piano star Zitong Wang, the third-prize winner of the Chopin International Piano Competition. This concert offers an epic journey across Eurasian musical landscapes, bridging traditional virtuosic repertoire with modern emotive compositions.
Program
The evening commences with Tchaikovsky's emotionally charged and nationally resonant 'Slavonic March'. Following this, Zitong Wang will interpret Chopin's 'Andante spianato et grande polonaise brillante', showcasing the duality of the piano poet's work—alternating between lyrical tenderness and dazzling technical display. The program also features Yao Chen's contemporary piece 'Gardening', which promises to construct a unique oriental aesthetic through sound. The grand finale will be Rachmaninoff's 'Symphony No. 1 in D minor', a work of immense scale and profound emotional tension, highlighting the HK Phil's orchestral depth and artistic maturity.
