Highlights
The Inter-Island Festival 2026 returns for its third edition, offering a deep dive into the interconnected lives of Hong Kong's islands. Moving beyond the traditional view of islands as peripheral sites, this festival positions Cheung Chau, Chi Ma Wan, Mui Wo, and Peng Chau as a vibrant, breathing "archipelago."
Program & Concept
This year’s edition explores the unique rhythms of island life—ferries, tides, and the exchange of resources, beliefs, and rituals. Participants are invited to redefine their relationship with these islands, viewing them not as distinct points on a map, but as a cohesive, self-sufficient community that has thrived independently of the urban center. The festival aims to reveal new possibilities through artistic interpretation and community engagement.
Curatorial Team
This edition is led by experienced curators including Chan Chun-kit, Ip Kai-chun, and Lin Yue-zhen, with local community curators from each respective island, including Wut Yat Bookstore (Cheung Chau), Yeung Ting-ting (Chi Ma Wan), Kim Sang-wok (Mui Wo), and Lo Kwai-ming (Peng Chau).
Venue & Access
Events will take place across various islands including Peng Chau, Cheung Chau, Chi Ma Wan, and Mui Wo. Visitors are encouraged to plan their ferry routes in advance to experience the archipelago firsthand.
