Program Highlights
The Hong Kong Sinfonietta presents the 'Cy Leo x Daniel Chu: Time Interlaced' concert, conducted by Music Director Christoph Poppen. The orchestra has commissioned Hong Kong composer Yang Kai-ching, currently active in the European music scene, to write a new concerto titled 'Time Interlaced' for two artists-in-residence: two-time world harmonica champion Cy Leo and local jazz piano virtuoso Daniel Chu.
With 'time' as the core inspiration, the concert weaves together classical, jazz, and contemporary musical styles. The program opens with Haydn’s witty Symphony No. 64 in A, 'Tempora mutantur,' followed by the world premiere of Yang’s 'Time Interlaced.' The second half features Beethoven’s youthful and energetic Symphony No. 2 in D, completing a musical journey that transcends time and tradition.
