Program Introduction
Though often ignored, soil organisms are the natural world's most powerful 'ecological engineers.' Dr. Michelle Law (Lecturer, School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Gary Ades (Head of Fauna Conservation Department, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden) will discuss:
- The pivotal role of earthworms in soil ecosystems.
- The hidden food chain connections between the forest floor and underground life.
- The challenges posed by seasonal shifts and climate change to these delicate systems.
