Highlights

The Tai Po Dragon Boat Night Parade is a recognized Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage. Organized by the Shi and Zhong Clansmen Associations, this century-old tradition takes place on Tolo Harbour between the 4th and 5th day of the fifth lunar month, commemorating the Song Emperor and ancestors. It is a grand annual event in Tai Po that blends historical legends, sacred folk customs, and authentic local culture.

Program

From June 18 to June 29, 2026, a series of guided tours, parade demonstrations, and exhibitions will be held to allow the public to experience this solemn cultural celebration:

  • Night Dragon Guided Tours: June 18 at Sam Mun Tsai, Tai Po (some sessions full, please check latest registration details).
  • Night Dragon Parade Demonstration: June 19 (Dragon Boat Festival) at Tai Po Waterfront Park Lookout Tower, from 12:00 to 12:30.
  • Night Dragon Exhibition: June 20 - 29 at Tai Po Old Market Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square, open daily from 12:00 to 20:00.
  • Exhibition Guided Tours: Scheduled on June 21 and June 27, requiring advance online registration.
