The 2026 Reading Workshop Series is a literary initiative designed to foster a deeper appreciation for diverse forms of writing, ranging from ancient poetry to contemporary micro-fiction. Hosted at the Hong Kong Central Library, these sessions offer a unique opportunity to sit down with experts and fellow book lovers to explore the nuances of the written word.

The Workshop Programme

Throughout the series, participants will engage in five distinct themed sessions led by distinguished scholars and writers:

  • Tang Poetry: Hosted by Dr. Leung Shu-fung (Lecturer, CUHK), this session dives into the mastery of classical verse.
  • Song Lyrics: Led by Dr. Ouyang Deying (Adjunct Lecturer, CUHK), exploring the aesthetic depth of Song dynasty poetry.
  • Modern Poetry: Guided by Dr. Wong Hoi-yee (Part-time Lecturer, Shue Yan University), focusing on contemporary expressions.
  • Prose: Facilitated by Dr. Kwong Man-fung (Senior Lecturer, HKMU), examining the craft of essay writing.
  • Micro-fiction: Featuring author and educator Ms. Man Ting, this session dissects the art of compact storytelling.

Registration and Participation

These workshops are provided as free community services. As detailed in the Official Event Page, registration is conducted via telephone to ensure proper venue capacity management. Please call 2921 4551 to secure your spot. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early at the Activity Room 1 of the library. Each session runs from 07:00 to 09:00 (UTC, please note venue local time adjustments), creating an intimate space for literary exchange and critical discussion.
