A Tale of Digital Connection and Family Bonds
Step into the world of 'Pocket City' (口袋裡的都市), a compelling original Cantonese musical that bridges the gap between the "Z Generation" and "Alpha Generation". Inspired by the suite 'Universe Invincible Trainer' from the acclaimed 'Hong Kong Tales', this production dives deep into the emotional landscapes of a seventeen-year-old protagonist named 'Shrimp Dumpling' (蝦餃).
The Story
In the near future, the global phenomenon 'Pocket City' is more than just a game; it is a center for social interaction, entertainment, and intense competition. However, for 17-year-old Shrimp Dumpling, who was abandoned by his father, Dr. Lo, at age seven, the game is a portal to the past. The announcement of the game's release features a voice familiar and painful—the voice of his long-lost father. Challenge accepted, he plunges into the virtual landscape to find answers, navigating through stages that mirror his unresolved anger and memories. Through this journey of digital discovery and personal growth, he must learn the true meaning of communication and forgiveness.
Artistic Excellence
Produced by a powerhouse creative team, the production features direction and scriptwriting by Curtis Yuen, with music, lyrics, and arrangements by Chun-toe Yeung. The choreography and production management are led by Harriet Yeung. With a stellar cast including Adam Yat-shan and Law Kin, the musical offers a profound exploration of adolescent emotional management and media literacy.
