Dog Rising Dance Performance @ French May 2026

Presented as part of the esteemed French May Arts Festival 2026, Dog Rising is a powerful, ritualistic choreography by the acclaimed artist Clara Furey. This performance acts as a continuation of her deep exploration into the sensory relationship between sound and the human frame, following her celebrated work Cosmic Love.

The Performance Concept

Dog Rising visualises the body as a site of resonance, where mechanical rhythms meet primal impulses. Dancers Justin De Luna, Baco Lepage-Acosta, and Brian Mendez construct a kinetic architecture through repetitive, communal movements, transforming physical discomfort and impact into profound expressions of joy and collective power. The soundscape, designed to vibrate through the listener’s bones, pulls the audience into a hypnotic spiral.

Context and Significance

As a cornerstone of the ACT: Art, Climate, Transition European cooperation project, the work addresses the urgent intersection of climate crisis and social inequality. Furey’s work is not merely a performance but a call to collective action. Supported by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels, this production has toured internationally from the Venice Biennale to Montreal's Festival TransAmériques.
