Celebrating its 50th concert season, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra presents the "Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang" New Year Concert. This event is not only a grand celebration to welcome the new year but also a magnificent overture for the orchestra's 2027 European tour, showcasing the cultural peaks of these four iconic dynasties through exquisite Chinese orchestral music.
Program
Conducted by Yan Huichang, this concert guides the audience through a millennium-long cultural journey featuring four landmark works:
- "Zhou Su" by Chow Hei-yeung: Exploring the origins of the ritual music civilization.
- Fantasy "Qin Terracotta Warriors" by Peng Xiuwen: A portrayal of the vast and majestic Qin Dynasty.
- "Silk Road Fantasy" by Zhao Jiping: Featuring Guanzi soloists Ma Weiqian and Qin Jitao, weaving the beautiful imagery of the Han Dynasty Silk Road.
- "Tang Resonances" by Ng Cheuk-yin: Capturing the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty with a modern rhythmic flair.
