Hosted by Funny Matters, the 8th Stand Up Comedy 101 Beginner's Course is designed to empower every participant to discover their voice and complete at least 5 minutes of original stand-up material. The course provides a supportive and creative environment where students can learn, exchange ideas, and grow. With seven successful previous editions, many alumni have gone on to perform publicly and participate in comedy competitions.

Program

The curriculum breaks down the complex art of comedy into accessible modules, covering essential skills such as:

• Storytelling and Emotion: Identifying and developing funny aspects of personal experiences.
• Performance Perspectives: Learning to observe the world and capture humor in everyday life.
• Joke Structure and Techniques: Understanding professional comedic structures and pacing.
• Professional Analysis: Exploring the methods and styles of renowned international comedians.

The course concludes with an internal sharing session, providing students with the perfect opportunity to practice and experience the stage.

Performers

This year's course is led by professional stand-up instructor Chan Yuen-yu. With extensive experience in both performing and teaching, Chan guides participants through the journey of discovering their comedic voice.

• Course Fee: HKD 960
• Concessions: Half-price discounts are available for full-time students, seniors aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and their caretakers, and recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) scheme.
