Highlights

"Poetry of Nature" offers an immersive musical journey connecting the German Romanticism of the West with the philosophical naturalism of the East. Led by internationally acclaimed pianist Chen Sa and talented conductor Sun Yifan, the NCPA Orchestra Chamber Ensemble will present a night of sophisticated classical performance, blending the tender lyricism of Wagner with the contemporary evocative power of Chang Le's compositions.

Program

The concert program features two distinct works that explore the relationship between sound, emotion, and nature:

  • Richard Wagner: Siegfried Idyll (WWV 103): Originally composed as a personal gift for his wife, this piece is celebrated for its serene beauty, dreamlike atmosphere, and intimate warmth, perfectly suited for the refined textures of a chamber ensemble.
  • Chang Le: 24 Solar Terms (Tone Poems for Piano, Natural Sounds & Chamber Orchestra): A modern masterpiece that integrates piano performance with chamber orchestra and natural soundscapes. It artistically depicts the changing of the seasons according to the traditional Chinese solar calendar, providing a profoundly immersive cultural and auditory experience.

Performers

  • Piano: Chen Sa: A renowned pianist celebrated internationally for her unique poetic sensibility and deep artistic insight.
  • Conductor: Sun Yifan: One of the most promising young conductors in the contemporary classical scene, known for his acute musical intuition and precise command over orchestral textures.
  • Ensemble: NCPA Orchestra Chamber Ensemble: An extension of the prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, known for their rigorous discipline, nuanced tonal range, and exceptional collaborative skills.

The performance will take place at the Grand Theatre of the Guangming Culture and Art Center in Shenzhen. This venue is a landmark cultural facility in Northern Shenzhen, equipped with state-of-the-art acoustics and facilities, providing an ideal setting for chamber music.
