'Marimba Four Seasons' is an immersive art performance that blends music and visuals in a captivating experience. Created by Hong Kong marimbist Ernestina Leung and Japanese marimbist Hiromi Shigeno, the concert is centered around the theme of the changing seasons. Through the warm and layered textures of the marimba, the duo explores the natural beauty of growth, life cycles, and the passage of time. A highlight of the performance is the integration of live, real-time visuals by visual artist moon.noon (Kong Fanliang), creating a synesthetic connection between sound and light that invites the audience into a multidimensional sensory journey.

Program

The performers, both renowned figures on the international stage with deep roots in Hong Kong and Japan, bring a diverse repertoire ranging from classical masterpieces and contemporary compositions to original works. This project showcases the boundless potential of the marimba in terms of melodic intricacy, rhythmic complexity, and tonal color. Having been performed extensively in Zurich from 2023 to 2025 with support from the Zurich cultural bureau, this poetic series makes its highly anticipated Hong Kong debut in 2026, offering local audiences a sincere and profound musical dialogue.

Venue & Access

The performance will be held at the Shouson Theatre, Hong Kong Arts Centre. Visitors can reach the venue via MTR (Wan Chai or Exhibition Centre station) and a short walk to 2 Harbour Road.

Ticketing

• Duration: Approximately 90 minutes (including a 15-minute intermission).
• Admission: One ticket per person. No age restrictions apply. Students must present valid ID upon entry for concession tickets.
