An Interdisciplinary Dialogue on Narrative and Identity
Gallery EXIT proudly presents "Mime Horse Dream", a thought-provoking group exhibition featuring the works of Hon Hang-ling, Lau Sze-man, and the artist duo Wong Ka-chung and Benjamin Ryser. The exhibition's title draws inspiration from the "Mime Horse"—a theatrical creature inhabited by multiple performers, functioning as a metaphorical vessel for collective listening and storytelling.
Exhibition Highlights
- Hon Hang-ling: Through oil paintings, Hon explores self-reflection, bridging the absurd and the childlike. Her works, such as "Light Can Reach Anywhere", delve into the omnipresence of light as a conduit for memory.
- Lau Sze-man: Moving from documentation of urban landscapes to a more literary artistic practice, Lau utilizes improvised lines to weave mythological and personal narratives into dense, text-like compositions.
- Wong Ka-chung & Benjamin Ryser: Focused on community research, their works—such as "Portrait of a Pigeon under Typhoon Signal No. 8" and the sound installation "Falling Stones and Birdsong"—examine collective trauma and recovery, particularly in the wake of natural disasters like the 2024 Hualien earthquake.
