[SATA Extra] Graphic Art Workshop

Overview

Contemporary graphic design is often dominated by digital software and AI, emphasizing efficiency over tangible craft. In contrast, traditional letterpress printing—from selecting type to typesetting and inking—requires human touch, experience, and patience. As part of the "SATA Extra" series, we invite you to step into the Kwong Wah Printing Company to experience the tactile warmth of traditional printing.

Program

This workshop is more than a creative session; it is a creative experiment. Participants will step into the shoes of a printer, learning how to transform everyday objects into unique type pieces to fulfill a "special order." Through this hands-on experience, you will discover the unique texture of letterpress and find poetic beauty in the interplay between technical limitations and the unique imperfections of manual work.

Performers

The workshop features Master Yam Wai-sang from the Kwong Wah Printing Company, who will share his expertise and guide participants through the craftsmanship of traditional printing.

Ticketing

• The event is free, but a HKD 50 deposit is required upon registration.
• The deposit will be automatically refunded to your original payment account approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the event (actual processing time may vary by bank).
• Please note: The deposit will not be refunded in the event of absence.
• Participants must be at least 6 years old. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
