Challenging the Boundaries of Perception: Anti-Immersion Experiment

Part of the French May Arts Festival 2026, 《反沉浸試驗》(The Sutherland Test) is a groundbreaking performance that dares to invert the contemporary obsession with immersion. Co-produced by the acclaimed Odd Couple Theatre and French artist Adelin Schweitzer, this intimate, avant-garde experience invites only 16 participants per session to step into a distorted reality.

The Experience

Participants are invited by a cutting-edge tech startup to test a new, revolutionary immersive device: the BUD (Black Up Display). This multi-sensory optical masking device, when combined with specifically modified VR headsets, plunges you into a world of layers and secrets.

As the performance unfolds, what begins as a simple tech test gradually reveals a deeper, more unsettling agenda. The Anti-Immersion Experiment is not merely a show; it is a psychological journey that forces participants to question the nature of control, truth, and technological influence. Expect a highly sensory experience that blurs the lines between reality and fiction.
