"Focus" Empathy for the Elderly Stage Play

Overview

What happens when Arthur Miller's classic play Focus is reinterpreted through the eyes of a multi-generational cast in Hong Kong? Presented by Empathy for the Elderly, the new devised theatre production Focus (失焦) is set to grace the stage at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre. This performance serves as a unique "cross-generational co-creation" experiment, aimed at breaking down age barriers and challenging social stereotypes.

Highlights

Featuring a diverse cast ranging from ages 20 to 70, this production weaves personal life stories together with theatrical text through a collaborative process. The team confronts how labels and societal expectations restrict individuals, aiming to reveal the warm and raw humanity behind these tags. Directed by two master's students from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the production blends professional artistic vision with community storytelling to deliver a powerful emotional experience.
