This course invites participants to step into a bygone era of the film industry, exploring the vibrant visual memories created by brushes and paints before the digital era. Under the guidance of veteran Hong Kong movie poster artist Keung Chi-ming, students will gain deep insights into the history, evolution, and traditional craftsmanship of movie advertising posters. This is more than a drawing class; it is a tribute to and a preservation of traditional visual arts.
Program
The curriculum is comprehensive, covering every critical step from fundamental drawing to the completion of a final piece:
- Fundamentals of Visuals & Techniques: Master human figure structure, typography, color atmosphere, and compositional spacing.
- Replication & Creation: Through imitation, students will experience the unique texture of hand-drawn strokes and learn to integrate cinematic atmosphere into their designs.
- Advanced Expression: Learn to utilize color and rhythm to convey emotions and dramatic effects.
- Practical Application: The course includes sketching, color blending, and the integration of elements to create one's own movie poster.
At the end of the course, participants will showcase their work and participate in a group critique to receive valuable feedback.
Who Should Attend
Designed as an introductory level course, it is ideal for those interested in drawing with basic sketching experience (recommended for participants aged 18 and above).
