Program Overview
"Cleansed," a seminal work by British "in-yer-face" theatre icon Sarah Kane, explores the depths of the human condition. Set within a claustrophobic institution under the control of the cold-hearted Tinker, the play follows couples struggling at the limits of their physical and mental endurance. It asks a haunting, fundamental question: When the body is stripped away, language is severed, and pain reaches its breaking point—is love annihilated, or does it become the only path to redemption? This reading and sharing session strips away the pretenses of traditional drama, inviting the audience to engage with Kane’s visceral, cruel, and yet profoundly pure narrative of love.
