Highlights

"Le Voyage en Occident" is a profound cultural dialogue that bridges contemporary art with centuries-old sacred crafts, specifically cloisonné and thangka. Focusing on the universal themes of travel, transformation, and the search for meaning, this exhibition reinterprets the concept of the "Journey to the West" from the classic Buddhist text, transforming geographical migration into a spiritual exploration of the soul.

Program

The exhibition is structured into two interconnected chapters:

  1. Chapter One (August 6 – 14): A solo exhibition by artist Léo Yeung. The works draw inspiration from the view of clouds from an airplane. These drifting clouds serve as metaphors for migration, uncertainty, and transformation, while echoing the sacred clouds found in traditional Buddhist thangkas, creating a visual bridge between contemporary abstract art and traditional iconography.

  2. Chapter Two (August 15 – 24): An extended two-week exchange exhibition. Joining Léo Yeung are guest artists including Debby Shing, who specializes in cloisonné and thangka art. This phase emphasizes the collision between traditional craftsmanship and experimental modern materials (such as Tibetan natural mineral pigments and cloisonné enamel), exploring the endless possibilities of artistic creation between tradition and innovation.
