Program Overview
Opera Hong Kong proudly presents a double-bill of Italian verismo masterpieces: Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci. These two seminal works of the late 19th-century verismo movement reject grand historical narratives in favor of exploring raw human emotions, including love, honor, jealousy, and betrayal. This production offers a rare opportunity to experience two complete one-act operas in a single evening, showcasing the intense, visceral drama that defines the verismo tradition.
