Presented as part of the prestigious French May Arts Festival, The Outsider is a compelling contemporary art exhibition hosted by Art of Nature Contemporary. Running from 28 May to 27 June 2026, the exhibition invites visitors to contemplate the complexities of the human experience through the lens of Albert Camus' seminal 1942 novel.
Conceptual Framework
The exhibition centers on the notion of the "position of viewing." By interrogating the literal and metaphorical distance maintained by individuals across disparate cultures, languages, and identities, the featured artists challenge how we perceive reality. The "Outsider" is not merely an alienated figure but a catalyst for new, sharper modes of understanding the contemporary world.
Featured Artists
This exhibition showcases the unique visions of five distinguished artists active in both European and Asian art spheres:
- Apolline Cordier
- Cang Yuan (藏淵)
- Ophelia Jacarini
- Hong Zeiss
- Marc Tanguy
Through diverse mediums, including painting and experimental visual practices, these creators offer a window into the fluid boundaries between 'inside' and 'outside.' Their works function as a mirror to modern society, where the sense of displacement and belonging constantly shifts.
Visiting Details
The exhibition will be held at the Art of Nature Contemporary Gallery, located in the heart of Central. Visitors are encouraged to explore the gallery's full current programming to enrich their visit. Whether you are an avid art collector or a fan of philosophical literature, this exhibition provides an essential space for dialogue in Hong Kong's vibrant art scene.
