Tang Sancai Technique Experience

Highlights

The "Tang Sancai Technique Experience" workshop invites participants to uncover the secrets behind the colors and craftsmanship of Tang Sancai (three-colored glazed pottery). Led by an experienced instructor, this in-depth cultural activity allows attendees to learn about the unique core techniques and enjoy a hands-on experience in glazing ceramic bisque, reflecting the exquisite skill of ancient artisans.

Program

Tang Sancai is a treasure of ancient Chinese ceramic art, celebrated for its vibrant blend of glazes, typically in yellow, green, and white. In this workshop, the instructor will explain the historical context and artistic characteristics of Tang Sancai before demonstrating the process. Participants will then have the opportunity to glaze their own ceramic pieces.

Please note that participants cannot take the pieces home on the day. The glazed bisque will be sent to a pottery studio for professional firing and will be available for pickup at the museum approximately three weeks later. As there is a risk of breakage during transport and firing, the organizer assumes no liability for damage.

Ticketing & Registration

• Fee: Free of charge.
• Registration Period: August 21, 2026, 10:00 AM to August 22, 2026, 6:00 PM.
• Method: Online registration. A computer ballot will be held if applications exceed the quota.
• Notification: Successful applicants will be notified via email on September 3.
• Bad Weather Arrangement: The event will be cancelled if a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher, "Extreme Conditions," or Black Rainstorm Warning is in effect 3 hours before the start time.

Venue & Access

The event will be held at the Hong Kong Museum of History. Participants are reminded to arrive on time and take care of their personal belongings.
