The South Side Saturday 2026 (#southsidesaturday) is an annual art pilgrimage organized by the HKAGA, inviting art enthusiasts to wander through the industrial neighborhoods of Wong Chuk Hang and Tin Wan. On May 23, 2026, a series of galleries will open their doors to reveal diverse artistic expressions, ranging from contemporary photography to traditional calligraphy. ## Photography and Visual Narratives The event highlights the power of the lens. At de Sarthe Gallery, visitors can explore the raw photography of Beijing artist Lin Zhipeng (No. 223) alongside Stephanie Mei Huang’s Yellow Porcelain II. Nearby, Wamono Art presents the exhibition Synesthesia by Aki Lumi and Yuki Onodera, exploring the intersection of perception and reality, shown alongside metal artist Jun Tanaka’s Resonance. Additionally, WKM Gallery showcases Greg Girard’s photographic journey through Hong Kong and Tokyo, while Boogie Woogie Photography presents the sun-drenched works of Jacques Henri Lartigue. ## Landscapes and Modernity In the realm of landscape and tradition, Alisan Fine Arts features the meticulous brushwork of Zhang Xiaoli, reinterpreting classic shanshui (landscape) painting through a surrealist lens. Meanwhile, Ben Brown Fine Arts transforms its space into a contemplative Zen garden. ## Featured Related Activities and Special Slots * Ma Defan 'Living Ink' Performance: Join us at Y Gallery to experience Ma Defan's live calligraphy, creating a bridge between tradition and contemporary dialogue. * Lin Lam Guided Tours: To celebrate the closing of the Asteroid J-734 solo exhibition at Axel Vervoordt Gallery, join the special publication launch of Beyond the Blue.
