Musical Theatre Exploration at Tsuen Wan Town Hall

Actors' Family, one of Hong Kong's flagship musical theatre troupes founded in 1991, is excited to launch a series of artistic programs at their new venue partner, the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Exhibition Gallery. As part of their mission to build a hub for original Cantonese musical theatre, they present a special event series: Musical Theatre Demonstration & Appreciation Lecture and Classic Works Screening.

Event Overview

Running from late May to mid-June 2026, this series offers audiences a unique opportunity to peek behind the curtain of musical production. The program combines educational lectures with screenings of some of the troupe's most beloved past productions. Participants will delve into the creative process, music composition, and storytelling that define the 'Hong Kong musical' style.

Featured Activities

1. Musical Theatre Demonstration & Appreciation Lecture: Hosted by resident lyricist Serena Tang, these lectures feature live demonstrations by actors, allowing attendees to experience the raw emotion and technical skill behind original musical theatre.
2. Classic Works Screening: Each lecture is followed by a screening of an acclaimed Actors' Family production. Post-screening talks with creators (including lyricist Serena Tang, composer Cynthia Wong, and various playwrights) will provide deeper context into these celebrated works.

Schedule Breakdown

We invite you to join us on the following Saturdays:

• May 31, 2026: Includes the 'Venue Partner Kick-off' ceremony at 2:30 PM, followed by the lecture and the screening of Ruby and Grandma's Railway No. 5.
• June 7, 2026: Features the lecture and the screening of The Beautiful Day.
• June 14, 2026: Features the lecture and the screening of Man Tang.

Getting to the Venue

The event takes place at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Exhibition Gallery (72 Tai Ho Road, Tsuen Wan). The venue is conveniently located just a 5-10 minute walk from MTR Tsuen Wan West Station (Exit A2) or MTR Tsuen Wan Station (Exit A1).
