Produced by Actors' Family, the musical "Yuliang" invites audiences to explore the artistic legacy of Pan Yuliang, the first Chinese female painter to study in France. This production offers a unique, immersive experience by bridging the gap between visual arts and theater. The venue is transformed into an exhibition space, allowing patrons to walk through and view the artist's work before the musical performance begins, setting the stage for a deeper emotional connection with her life story.

The Story

Born into humble beginnings, Pan Yuliang overcame prejudice and exclusion through her unwavering passion for art and sheer perseverance. Her work blends Chinese and Western styles with vibrant colors, documenting her longing for her homeland and her profound love for life. As the production highlights: she painted to survive, and her persistence eventually etched her name into history. This musical is a celebration of her spirit and a reflection on the universal struggle to find one's place in the world.
