Highlights

'Silk Road New Chapter', the opening gala for the 2026 Shenzhen 'Belt and Road' International Music Festival, will be held at the Shenzhen Longgang International Art Center Opera Hall. This concert is not only a showcase for world-class talent but a grand celebration of cross-border art and cultural exchange. Featuring an all-star lineup, the performance curates a diverse selection of works, ranging from centennial opera classics to contemporary commissioned premieres, offering an immersive experience of East-meets-West musical harmony.

Program

The program showcases the beauty of Silk Road cultural convergence. The concert opens with Bedřich Smetana's symphonic suite 'Vltava' (The Moldau), followed by the world premiere of 'Suona fortissimo!', a co-commissioned work by the Shenzhen 'Belt and Road' International Music Festival and the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, which builds a bridge between Eastern and Western instrumentation. The repertoire features celebrated arias from Puccini's 'La Bohème' performed by Wang Kang and Pretty Yende. The second half highlights selections from Verdi's 'La Traviata', concluding with Ye Xiaogang's 'The Shenzhen Story' suite, which captures the unique spirit of the city.
