The Art of Reading Theatre: On & On Theatre Marathon 2026
Experience the intimacy and raw power of contemporary drama at the Reading Theatre Marathon 2026, hosted by the acclaimed On & On Theatre Workshop. This year, our marathon delves into the theme of "The Community of Narratives" (講述共同體), bringing three compelling scripts from Ireland, the UK, and Taiwan to the stage at the historic Cattle Depot Theatre.
Through the "half-reading, half-performance" format, we bridge the gap between text and audience, offering a refreshing perspective on human connection in our modern era. Whether you are a theatre aficionado or a curious newcomer, these performances invite you to immerse yourself in the power of words and performance art.
Programme Highlights
We have curated three exceptional scripts, each directed by a distinct local female director:
- Penelope (在泳池中心呼喚愛) (Enda Walsh): A wild, mythological twist set in a drained swimming pool, exploring human survival and desire. Directed by Vee Leong.
- Man of the Theatre (藝術之子) (Huang Yu-ching): A gripping exploration of power, gender, and "artistic truth" inspired by Chekhov's The Seagull. Directed by Yim Wing-yan.
- Stories (一人限動) (Nina Raine): A witty yet profound look at modern womanhood, fertility, and the "stories" we curate on social media. Directed by Yuen Kit-man.
