Organ Journey Across East and West - Love, the Storytelling Moon

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), "Organ Journey Across East and West - Love, the Storytelling Moon" offers a unique cross-cultural musical dialogue. Organist Chan Chun-him and suona performer Chan Hoi-yan collaborate to explore how the majestic tones of the Western pipe organ blend with the penetrating power of the Eastern suona, reinterpreting classic melodies through a new lens.

Program

The concert features a carefully curated selection of works spanning eras and cultures, all tied to the evocative theme of "The Moon." The program includes:

• Bach: Prelude and Fugue in C Minor
• Gagliardi: Three New Impressions
• Pierné: Cantilena
• Debussy: Clair de Lune
• Howard and Chen Jiaming (arr.): Fly Me to the Moon and Moonlight in the City
• Zhao Jiping (arr.): Hero's Song
• Huang Yijun (arr.): Blooming Flowers and Full Moon

This recital serves as a profound experiment in the resonance between Chinese and Western instruments.

• Organ: Chan Chun-him - An active organist in Hong Kong dedicated to promoting organ art.
• Suona: Chan Hoi-yan - A performer known for her expressive technique on the suona.

Venue & Access

The performance will take place at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. Located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, the venue is easily accessible via the MTR (Tsim Sha Tsui or East Tsim Sha Tsui Station).
