[Weekend Parent-Child Spot] Mei Ho House Parent-Child Experience Camp

Highlights

The "Mei Ho House Parent-Child Experience Camp" is a key activity under the "Jockey Club Community Project: Mei Ho House Hong Kong Spirit Learning Programme," presented by the Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association and supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. This event invites parents and children to travel back to the 1950s-70s, exploring the vibrant neighborhood life and resilient spirit of the old resettlement areas.

Program

The camp consists of two main parts, blending historical education with fun, interactive learning:

• Guided Tour of the Mei Ho House Life Museum: Professional guides will lead participants through mock-up rooms and displays of precious artifacts and oral histories. Participants will learn about the living conditions in old resettlement areas, the strong sense of community, and how residents supported each other during difficult times.
• Parent-Child Interactive Activities: Through storytelling and hands-on workshops, families will experience home-based handicrafts and make traditional toys from the past. These activities are designed to foster family bonding while teaching the "Hong Kong Spirit" of perseverance, frugality, and sharing.

Eligibility & Language

The activity is designed for children aged 5-8 accompanied by their parents or grandparents. It will be conducted in Cantonese. Registration is per family, with one child and one family member forming a team.
