Artist Dialogue: Lin Zhipeng
16 May 2026, 14:00-16:00 HKT
Exclusive dialogue session with the artist on the opening day.
This special Artist Dialogue event takes place on the opening day, May 16. Don't miss this unique opportunity to hear directly from Lin Zhipeng (No. 223) about his creative process and the inspirations behind 'Relationship Copy'.
De Sarthe Gallery is proud to present 'Relationship Copy', the second solo exhibition by Beijing-based artist Lin Zhipeng (No. 223). As a prominent figure in contemporary Chinese photography, Lin explores the multifaceted nature of human connections through his lens. This exhibition, running from May 16 to June 27, 2026, focuses on the tactile nature of relationships, redefining the 'copy' as a meaningful supplement rather than a mere reproduction. These intimate fragments of daily life capture hidden moments of human encounter.
The Digital Paradox
In the digital era, while screens bridge geographic gaps, they often widen emotional distance. Lin Zhipeng's practice addresses this central paradox: how social media can simultaneously connect and isolate individuals. Despite being an artist whose career flourished through digital platforms, his work remains deeply rooted in the physical world.
Exhibition Highlights
Visitors will encounter a space designed to provoke reflection:
- Body Photography: Four two-meter-high portraits highlighting the raw physicality of the human form—skin, breath, and weight.
- Smart Phone Installation: A 1.6-meter-high installation representing the barriers created by virtual connectivity, challenging the viewer to reclaim real-world interactions.
- Time and Nature: Beyond human relations, the exhibition examines the flow of time through evolving subjects like water splashes, cigarette ash, and blooming flowers.
Venue and Access
Located in the vibrant Wong Chuk Hang district, the exhibition is hosted at de Sarthe Gallery, situated on the 20th floor of the Union Industrial Building.
