The Free-Float Molecular exhibition brings together three distinct voices from Hong Kong’s contemporary art scene: Man Hoi-ying, Lee Shan-shan, and Ng Ho-long. Graduates of the CUHK Fine Arts Department (2023–2025), these artists represent a new wave of practitioners navigating the complexities of modern life through their creative work.

Concept and Vision

Inspired by the chemical concept of a 'free-float molecule', the exhibition title highlights the catalytic nature of their art. Much like these molecules, the artists remain highly sensitive to their environment, rejecting rigid structures to maintain a fluid approach to their practice. They explore how flexibility—in subject, medium, and daily routines—becomes a tool for maintaining integrity and defining personal freedom.

Exhibition Details

This exhibition is a profound exploration of the current Zeitgeist. The works demonstrate the power of collaboration and delve into three unique non-traditional creative practices. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the dual spaces of the Goethe-Institut Hong Kong Gallery and the adjacent Black Box Studio.

This event emphasizes the importance of shared spaces. As noted in our overview of the Black Box Studio Exhibition, the venue serves as a hub for artistic exchange. Please refer to our Exhibition Highlights slot below for more details regarding the duration and artist engagement opportunities. We encourage all attendees to engage with the artists' process and experience the spatial dynamic between the gallery and the studio environment.
