About the Artist

For over three decades, Walter Blanding has been a force in the global jazz scene, celebrated for his rich, warm tone and masterful storytelling. A cornerstone of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since the 1990s, Blanding rose to prominence with his 1991 debut, Tough Young Tenors, which was acclaimed as one of the year’s finest jazz records. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with jazz titans such as Wynton Marsalis and Natalie Cole, contributing to projects honored with Pulitzer Prizes and multiple Grammy Awards.
