Plan International is hosting the 'Because I am a Girl' Pencil Charity Sale from September to November 2026 at various shopping malls across Hong Kong, raising funds to support the education of vulnerable girls in Nepal and help combat the prevalence of child marriage.

Overview
Globally, approximately 12 million girls are forced into marriage before the age of 18 every year, meaning one girl becomes a victim of child marriage every three seconds. In Nepal, up to 35% of women are married before 18 due to poverty, gender inequality, and traditional customs, causing them to lose the chance to continue their education. Plan International is organizing the 'Because I am a Girl' Pencil Charity Sale from September 17 to November 1, 2026, under the theme 'Write a Future for Girls, Erase the Shadow of Child Marriage,' aiming to raise awareness and support for vulnerable girls in Nepal.
Highlights
Members of the public are invited to purchase charity pencils at designated shopping malls (HK$20 per pack, including two pencils). Those who purchase two or more packs will receive a complimentary face painting session or a beautiful balloon. Several venues will also host exhibitions showcasing the reality of child marriage in Nepal, allowing the public to better understand its impact. Visitors can also collect special stamps at the venue to create a personalized postcard and receive a small gift!
Ambassadors
Plan International's honorary ambassadors Sisley Choi, Joey Law, and Jace Chan will attend the kickoff ceremony. We invite everyone to contribute and support these girls in Nepal, helping them continue their studies and stay safe from the risks of child marriage.
